Off Topic / Make a Parody about Knifing!
« on: January 30, 2014, 03:50:05 pm »
The Challenge:

I challenge you. Yes, YOU! No, not "You" the player, I'm talking about you. I challenge you to take any song and turn it in to a parody about knifing. Or if you're feeling ambitious, write your own!

I'm mainly making this topic to share my own. A couple of you may have seen it, but I still think it's hilarious. So here it is, prepare yourself.

"Grapple Knife"
Parody of the Pokemon Theme

Maybe it would help to follow along?

I want to be the very best,
Like iBlok always was.
To knife them is my real test,
To train them is my cause.

I will travel across Blockland,
Searching far and wide.
Teach Blocklanders to understand,
Where all the fun resides.

Grapple Knife! (Gotta knife them all!)
It's you and me... I know you don't have the speed!

Grapple Knife! Ohh, you're my best friend, should we fight? Well it depends.

Grapple Knife! (Gotta knife them all!)
Restart anew, so that I can punish you...

...For killing me in that last round,
Grapple Knife!

Gotta knife them all!
Gotta knife them all!

Yeah

Every knifer along the way,
With tryhard I will face.
I will battle every day,
To claim my rightful place.

Knife with me, let's one v one,
Green is the best team.
Knife in hand, I'll win the fight,
It's always been a need.

Grapple Knife! (Gotta knife them all!)
It's you and me... I know you don't have the speed!

Grapple Knife! Ohh, you're my best friend, should we fight? Well it depends.

Grapple Knife! (Gotta knife them all!)
Restart anew, so that I can punish you...

...For killing me in that last round,
(Grapple Knife!)
Gotta knife them all!
(Gotta knife them all!)
...Gotta knife them all...

Well, it wasn't too bad; I thought it turned out pretty well!
I wasn't really sure who to put as "The very best, like no one ever was." I was deciding between iBlok and Dalton, since those are two great knifers that have two syllables.
But the problem was, I've never seen Dalton play before, I've just heard he's one of the best. As for iBlok, I've rarely seen him try. Not worth over-thinking though.

But now, it's your turn. Go for it!

Map Donations / Re: Donation of Map : To AoKE

First of all, you need to set your imgur images to public view, or else we cannot see them.
Secondly, you don't need to put 8 or 9 links to the same webpage. One will do just fine.
Lastly, not everything needs to be 36 sized font, but that's just my opinion.

Map Donations / Big Steve's Big Grapple Knife Map
« on: November 23, 2013, 04:41:38 pm »
Here's my map donation. I made it large, but for good reason. This map will teach players how to grapple around more efficiently, since movement around the map is essential to start racking up some kills. The map teaches classic knifing skills as well. If you look at the platforms, there are many areas that would work well on classic. I'm hoping that players can learn to blend skills from each game type into their knifing strategy through this map.

Take note that the spawns are 32x32, rather than the traditional 16x16. This is done for a few reasons. 16x16 platforms are far too easy for people to camp and wait for their opponents to jump at them. With the 32x32s, players have more breathing room. They have more choices of attack, as well as more choices of escape. With the 32x32s, players can face off with each other more frequently, rather than being on separate platforms most of the time. I'm not trying to say the 32x32 spawns are better, they're just a nice change up from more traditional maps.

I've hosted this map as a "sudden death" (unlimited lives) Grapple Knife TDM a few times, asking people to critique it as they played. Most people loved it, Dante humped it for a good 10 minutes, but a couple people said they didn't like the fact that the map was much bigger than they were used to. They said it took too long for them to get across the map to another player. At the time, there weren't very many people on the server. On Sanctus's, I'm guessing there is an average of about 12 knifers, at least, playing. In this case, the distance between players shouldn't me much of a problem. Keep in mind that you can get across the map in five seconds with the grapple, anyways.

I hope you all like it! Please reply with some feedback, including suggestions.
